65 330 4v swaping to 1970 350 4v

Hi,

I have a 65 Cutlass, the original 330 broke a valve spring and dropped a valve and locked it up.

So I picled up a doner 350, 4v, with no acessories, will my 330 pulleys and brackets line up?

Can I use my 65 intake/distributer on the 350?

Regards,

The brackets and pulleys will line up, if you use the water pump off the 330. If the 330 carb works good sure but the Qjet on the 350 should be more efficient. The distributor should work fine.

The Qjet won't match up with the 65 throttle linkage. You can fabricate something but that will require work to ensure the kickdown switch actuates at the correct times. Swap the intake and carb as a unit to the 350 if you want.

There you go, I should have guessed the throttle set up would be different with the 4GC carb. Depending on what year and compression 350, the tune should be close enough to work.

Hi again,

Yeah thinking of swapping the intake and carb to minimize the changes to the linkage.

One other question, the dampner on the 350 rubber looks a little cracked up and dry, I just had the one on my 330 redone, can I use that with my 330 timing marker?

Regards,

The balancer will fit on but I believe there are differences between early and later models. Not sure if equates to a balance issue. I know the 2bbl 330 had a balancer like the later 307's, non existent, a crappy little metal hub.

Pretty sure 330's are internal balance and 350's are external balance. Forged vs. cast cranks.

Sorry, no. ALL 1964-1990 Olds motors are EXTERNALLY balanced from the factory. The balance on a 330 is a little different from the balance on a 350 due to different reciprocating mass.
