Installing Edelbrock 3711

Hello all.

We just purchased new intake for our 73 omega. Has a 350 4 barrel. This will be our first time tearing it down, somewhat. So any tips and tricks that could help us. We purchased the Fel-Pro Valley pan gasket to be installed as well. Our 4 barrel is being shipped out to Everyday Performance for a restore.

Use a bead around all 4 water ports on both sides of the gasket. I toss the end seals and use tall beads of Ultra Black RTV and let sit overnight. I also use Permatex Aviation sealant around all the other ports on both sides of the gasket.

One more thing, dry fit it first, you may have to bend and form, it a little, to fit.

I don't know about all that extra sealer, but agree about the end rails. The three Edelbrock manifolds I have had all leaked horribly around the thermostat housing. I now use teflon tape on the 'stat housing bolts (make sure they are not too long) and dress the gasket surface of the housing with 220 on a flat surface before assembling.

Thanks for the information. On the End seals bead with RTV, just on the engine side? that way the valley pan sits on top of the sealant? Or do I apply to the top of the valley pan on the ends as well?

As said the valley pan sort of locks into the right spot, it has tabs. The end seals are independent of the valley pan, so just lay a 2 or 3 layer tall, not wide bead of RTV for both ends right the edge of the water ports on the engine block ends. Good choice on Everyday Performance for the carb, happy with mine.

Update on Manifold Install

We have finally installed our Intake Manifold and Carburetor. Was not too bad for the first time. Thanks everyone for the information. Thanks to Everyday Performance for the Rebuild and restore on the carburetor. Next is to pick up new EGR, vacuum lines and fittings for them. Than final touches of hoses and fuel line and add coolant. Hope to get it done this week and start it up.
