It's actually 5.072", which most people round up to 5.1".

As with motor mounts, nearly every vendor gets Olds water pump listings wrong. The factory part number is 231065. Unfortunately, that pump is no longer available new anywhere. Supercars Unlimited says they have rebuilt units. Alternately, you can use Airtex AW773, available from RockAuto. This is for a mid-60 application but it will work on your 71. The only issue is that the inlet diameter might be different from the one you currently have. You might need to swap the lower radiator hose to match. 68-70 Cutlii used a 1.75" inlet, 71-2 used a 2" inlet. Get the hose that matches your pump.

The radiator nipple is a different size on the 70-older cars vs the 71-newer cars as well, so simply swapping the hose to fit the water pump will result in an incorrect diameter for the radiator end.

A trip to a plumbing supply store will get a 1.5 to 2 in male reducer to get hose to fit.

A rubber bushing is available to adapt the hose to the rad.

Since we're resurrecting old threads, it should be noted that the 1970-earlier cars have the larger 2" water pump fitting and 1.75" radiator fitting whereas the 1971-later vehicles have the smaller 1.75" water pump fitting and 1.5" radiator fitting.
