They never give the cam specs. Unless you have a blower you're only going to make so much power with whatever cam you have.
The runners he points out in the stock iron intake are the worst for flow. He mentions they're larger than the Performer but doesn't realize that they don't come off the plenum individually, only thru a single runner, not good.
Ironically most likely had he changed the intake to an RPM he may have reached his goals.
Those are just a couple. I'd have to watch it again to point out any more, but I'm not sure I want to subject myself to that again.

Interesting. Thanks Mark

I thought it was strange that he talked about keeping the stock height on the intake so the OAI set up could be used. Then he stuck a big adapter plate or whatever that thing was between the carb and the intake.

Right or wrong, videos like these at least help a novice like me understand the parts and pieces of an engine You should shoot some footage of one of your builds some time.

Yeah he had at least a 2" spacer on it. If it makes a lot more power that way then something in your combination is wrong. And sorry but I don't agree, bad info or build practices don't always help others if they don't know what to look for.
I've thought about narrating a build or two but I feel like the supplied dyno sheets and build specs do that for me. Thanks.

Whats right and wrong is kind of open to interpretation.

I personally think Dyno numbers are kind of bull$hit unless you really plan on tayloring the whole combination to really use the most of it. Sadly i think people like to brag those numbers.

My 355 was built doing what you would probably consider " wrong " yet it has delivered. So who's to say it was wrong ?????

Sadly i think people like to brag about those numbers. I DO TOO, THATS WHY I DO THEM AT REAL OPERATING TEMPS AND SOMETIMES WITH MUFFLERS.

By combination i meant entire as in driveline. The whole package. Alot of guys leave alot on the table is all im saying. The dyno is a great tool specially for a builder. Its the last step of qc. But too many brag those numbers and worry more about that than whats actually being put to use. Like 450 hp in 3300 lb car with 3.90 gears vs 450 in a 4200 lb car with 3.08's

Remember this mild 350 that got torn to shreads on here multiple times?

I think there were three or four separate posts/threads about it…all not good

391hp 424tq Stock performer low profile intake. Stock rockers, flat tappet…a little port work that resulted in a little over 200cfm.

Was it because he overestimated his goals?

if he said he wanted 391/420 would everyone be wetting themselves because he beat it?

It isn't terrible, a RPM probably would have helped over the Performer and stock intake and hit hi 400 hp he wanted. Why are you mentioning a 4 year old build?

I just seen the video again online…so that’s why I’m bringing it up. It’s also a true mild 350 build that makes the power as than Marks 350 he just posted

saying isn’t terrible is kind of bs. It’s dam good considering what it is.

I’ve read all the posts about this engine from the several threads posted about it…it’s pretty bad what was said.

the comments on this engine and Marks is pretty hilarious..why?
