307 Rebuild

I'm not new to the site but I am not a regular poster but wanted to share this information with you. I'm in the process of restoring an 87 olds cutlass and thought I would share a court of pictures with you. This is the picture of my307 block before the process begin, it's been machined and cleaned.

I like them cars, I owned a nice black 86 with t-roof only a 305 car but very nice comfortable driver.
Its nice to see these cars being saved, I'm looking forward to following along with your thread and see that beauty transform.
Welcome to CO.
Cheers
Eric

Here is the block with the pistons in it, I know it's been a while but any progress is better than none at all

Hey there, I like that you're tearing down this engine and rebuilding it. I've got the same engine in my Caddy and wanted to get as familiar with it as I can. Especially the vacuum components and line routing. I'll be checking your rebuild out as you go, thanks.

Ol school,
Just curious why you'd keep the 307 instead of changing to a 350 or 403.

Good question, it is the dreaded swirl port turd motor! The only thing less desirable is a 260.
The smog 350 matches the 442 swirl port version with more torque. Are you at least adding dual exhaust?

Since you are rebuilding the 307, is it your intention to keep the 87 completely original???
