wood spacers vs. aluminum spacers
i have a edelbrock 1405 carb on my car and when i drive it it does good but if i shut it off say for maybe 10 mins and go back to start it up, it floods out and is hard to start due to heat of engine. and ive been told if i get a spacer that it would help this issue i just dont know if i should get a wood spacer or an aluminum spacer.

I love these discussions.
Why do you assume it's heat that is doing it? Is the car running hot? Is this a stock Edelbrock right out of the box or did someone mess with it?
So many questions here.

I'm using a 1" phenolic 4 hole spacer with a 1406 edelbrock/edelbrock performer, I had the same issue driving for a distance, stop get gas hard to start and would flood same deal.
Initially I had a 1" open, read the 4 hole gives more low end torque, so I bought the 4 hole chucked the open and its been good, noticable more torque in my opinion. No hard starts when warm.
Although I do have a be cool aluminium rad which helps
It fixed my issue however Tripdeuces make a good point on other issues that can cause this.
Hope this helps
