Replacement radiator

Hi all, I need to replace my radiator..... let go on my maiden voyage today
id like to use a direct bolt in replacement, which one is the best to use? It is a 1972 cutlass 442 convertible 350 four barrel, automatic.
id love to hear some input. I definitely don’t want to break the bank but I want a simple bolt in replacement. I appreciate any help/info

thx mike

I saw that one too, isn’t there figment issues? Has anyone used a cheap plastic one to get by? I want a quick cheap fix so I can drive it while I get the correct radiator. They are only about $120 for a quick fix.I’m considering buying one just to get on the road and then buy a nice aluminum one to get back to original look. Thoughts?

Yeah, a cheap plastic one will work fine, especially for a short time. The cold case should fit but do some measurements of your core and current rad.

The ones I've had in my other cars lasted for many, many years.

Is re-coreing original radiator financially sound solution in US?

I'd double check the size of the fittings for the hoses. A lot of the new repro's use small diameter and you'd potentially need to also get adapters.

It will fit. I looked at the specs and the inlet/outlet are stepped size for 1.5" and 1 9/16" to accommodate different hose sizes.

For my 67 I'm running an APDI/PRO 8010322 Radiator - single row, 1 1/4 core + Flex-a-lite 1818 fan. The only time I have any cooling issues (it will creep up to 220) is with a really long extended idle in 100+ outside air temps. Been in the car for 10 years.

I bought an autozone radiator about a month ago. There is a thread in this forum stating that the descrption is incorrect (says that it is platic/aluminum) and that the photo is correct (photo is of copper brass radiator). Ordered it and received a plastic.aluminum radiator, since I wanted to keep the original look I opened a dipsute on PayPal to send it back for a refund. Autozone never answered the dispute, so after 10 days PayPal just refunded my money and now I have this radiator sitting here that I have no use for. If you want it I can sell it to you $100 shipped, I am sure that shipping will be expensive because of the size and weight. Retail price is $212.99. Here is the exact one I bought, this is for HD cooling as my car has the 455 with AC (1972 Cutlass Supreme). https://www.autozone.com/cooling-hea...17561_807612_0

If you can't get your rad recored, get the Cold Case, a much better cooling rad for just a few more dollars. Make sure they put a 3 core in your current rad, mine was recored with a 2 core, pretty stupid considering they are the same tanks. Mine cools fine but won't with future upgrade plans.

Measure your current radiator.

If the 66-67 core supports are the same I used a Suburban radiator for my 67 like a 2001-2002 bought it from Auto Zone for 145.00 years ago fit like a glove- no mods motor never went over 180 degrees even in the Texas summers.
