Rectangle shaped hole above cam olds 350???
The picture below isn't my block but my block also has the same hole. It's the rectangle shape hole above the cam in the middle of the block. I can see the cam through the hole. Should it be blocked off, or did someone put it there for a reason? I'm asking because mine also has the rectangle but it looks like someone cut it because the inside isn't machined perfect it has jagged and sharp edges in side the rectangle.

It's a factory hole. It's casted into the block so you can adjust the cam backlash. You are supposed to use a the "Turkey tray" gasket or a windage tray to keep the hot oil splashing out of the cam hole.
