The oil "filter" mounting to the block does----is this what you are referring to? The "pump" bolts to the block inside the oil pan.

I only know my '71 350 and it didn't use one, '69 is probably the same but wait for a more positive answer before you go doing anything.
The oil that would leak from there if it did would would just go back into the oil pan anyway.

well, there is no gasket in the rebuild set, and I don't see any remnents of an old one,and I'm thinkin there was no gasket., but, IF it was to leak ,,I would think it would lower the oil pressure . just want to be SURE before I put the pan on .........thanks

Looking in the '69 chassis manual it does not show a gasket as the oil pump bolts to the rear main bearing cap. Torque bolts to 35 ft. lbs.

No gasket , put mine on yesterday.
Don't forget to put the oil pump drive shaft in first.

'69 350, does the oil pump mounting to the block have a gasket ?

I talked to Mondello about this last year and he sold me a baffle plate that goes in between the oil pump and engine block. I also bought ARP studs for the oil pump as well.

The oil pump does not mount to the block, it mounts to the rear main cap.
The oil filter adapter mounts to the block and it does use a gasket.

Someone might prove me wrong but I don't know of any American motors that use any kind of gasket. Its always machined surface to machined surface.

So now everyone has had a few months of winter to study and formulate an answer and show off their new found knowledge...

Oops, my bad. You're right. It mounts to the rear main cap.

I just replaced my oil pump with a new Melling High volume oil pump and the only gasket it came with was for the bolt on pick up tube. No gasket between the pump and the rear main cap.
