oil leak from carb

oil leak from carb

hello my 72 cutlass s with 350 -4 all edelbrock leaks oil from carb base gasket onto manifold . now i have installed new pcv valve & breather and my valve covers have built in baffles in them . the engine runs fine no smoke plugs are good i have also tried new gasket between carb & manifold & still get a leak any help BILL

ok , that explains why I get puddles of oily substance on my intake manifold , was wondering wth that was from

I have a very similar problem too. I have no idea. But now I know where it comes from too.

Is your air cleaner getting oil in it?
If the breather/pcv system is new and correctly hooked up, I'd guess worn piston rings, or your oil drain back holes in the low side of the heads are clogged, and the oil is only able to come down the push rod holes and puddling.

If that were really oil leaking from the carb, your car would be blowing so much oil smoke out the exhaust that you wouldn't be able to see the carb. More likely you are seeing fuel that is collecting grease from the engine compartment and looking like oil.

thanks for the responce guys Joe the car has 111500 miles on it i lifted off the carb & found oil around base gasket but not alot down the throat of intake .i do have blowby but not sure if its to much or normal for the amount miles that are on the car. thanks BILL

does your engine have oil consumption issues? if not i would agree with joe
