Not everyone wants a full blown drag car. With the added cost+++ to keep all the other parts of the car alive. I went with a cam that kicks in at higher rpm. For me, its the explosive top end. God I love it!!! Work really well with Lighting Rods.

Exactly, that 435 HP, is going to get revved up. The LS is similar, big ports and they are pathetic as truck engines, dead below 3500 rpm, I get Dale's point. The 435HP build will work great with the factory 3.73 gears and the right converter. Go to a 750 cfm, there is 450HP. The other issue not an issue on our seasonal cars, is no exhaust crossover. No good on a truck application like I plan on doing again as an all year driver. It will need iron heads. We have to wait and see when and what actually comes out from Edelbrock

I have the same feelings about an LS, my work truck is a 3500 Express SRW 10' boxvan with a 4.8 , I won't even install a trailer hitch on it. It's great at about 5,000 rpm, but like an old straight 6 off idle !

Yeah, I call the 2011 3/4 4×4, the 6L slug. Totally dead below 3500 rpm. My 4100 pound Challenger with the 3.6 pulls the valley hills better empty than it does. This whole thing massively off topic. Hopefully Dave gets it done before spring!

So when I get the compression up to 10.25-1 what will be a good gear and convertor to use? am I just gonna be screwed with low end torque because of the BB heads?

you don’t need to jack it up to 10.25

9.9 to 10 is good. What are you committed too? The 3.08’s or transmission set up? It’s a 350 turbo correct?

I just posted over on that other 358 thread that made 435 hp. It’s going in to a totally different deal than what yours is. He’s got 3:73’s with a 200R4 which has a 2.74 first gear ratio for an overall 10.22 in a much lighter G body. Your overall 1st ratio is only 7.76 in a heavier car..that’s not good for off the line acceleration.

bumping your comp ratio will definitely help your low end TQ.

my suggestion would be to dyno it and see what the low end numbers look like… Get them to pull it from 200 rpm lower that your TQ converter stall, so 2,300. You will have to twist their arm and beg them to pull it that low..but it’s important

put it in the car an run it like that…if you aren’t happy with the off the line acceleration, then change it

Dave have you ever weighed your sedan? My 88 CSC, a 2 door G body was 3750 pounds without me in it, not exactly a lightweight. If they ever fix the truck scale the Department of Highway use, I will weigh my 70S.

I'm not committed to anything as far as gear Dale, If a gear change to 3.42 is a good move I will make that, Don't think I want anything higher with a th350, me and the wife like our Grand Bend drive, its not highway speeds on 21, but 100 km per hr is normal on that road. If I get that gear is a 2500 convertor fine or does that need more? sorry for a thousand questions but I want to make some things better this time around, there lots of people telling to get rid of those Mahle pistions but I will just have to make it work this time around, same for the heads, I will be working with Ted and bringing him my engine Nov 10, I want him to strip the heads back down and mill them to around 60cc and get that compression to 10-1 as you suggest, cut the intake and assemble and dyno tune, that the new plan moving forward. Christian I have never weighed the car, my more door must weight alot
