Which Intake should I get?

What would be better a Edelbrock Performer or a Edelbrock Performer RPM?

Thanks, Mike

My take on this is it really depends on cross sectional area of the head. If your heads are stock I'd go with the Performer. If your heads have been worked on and the ports widened at all I'd go with the Performer RPM.
I always chuckle at head flow numbers (although I'm guilty of this because I do like big numbers). If you don't have a decent manifold feeding it the numbers mean nothing. Basically you want to equalize cross sectional area from plenum to valve. I'm sure there will be other opinions. Just wait and see, lol.

Thanks, TripDeuces. Right now the heads are milled a little and 3 angle valve job. Nothing special. I am planning on putting the 2" valves in them and having the bowls blended. I have a Comp Cam 268H in the car right now which has a operating range from 1500-5500 rpm's.

Hi mike,

I had both on my stock 71 supreme with stock 350/th350 with headers.
The Performer and the Performer RPM.

I noticed the first gain of power in the midrange, when i replaced the old exh. manifolds and added some dynomax Headers...

Then i bolted on the performer.... slightly till no noticable power gain.
The RPM i really felt in the midrange from 2000rpm +

I dont know how the holley intake works....

But if i had to make a change again on my 350, i would definately! go with the RPM!!!

Hope this helps.
Let the others bring in their knowledge.

Regards,
Torsten

Tell us the details of the motor, the gears, the tire diameter, and how you plan to use the car and we can provide a useful recommendation. Otherwise, the info is meaningless.

Motor was recently rebuilt. Bored .20 over, comp cam 268H. Installed #6 Heads all new stock sized valves, 3 angle valve job, milled 15 thousands. The heads were milled before but I do not know how much. New matching valve springs and lifters. Pistons are the Kieth Black Silv-O-Lites stock replacement 14cc pistons. Taylor HEI Distributor with Taylor 8mm wires. Stock 4 barrel intake, Stock rear-end, Stock 350 turbo trans. I want to add the 2" valves, have the bowls blended. When I have this done it will give me a chance to change my head gaskets for the the thinnest I could find. The compressed thickness in the new gasket would be .021 instead of the one I have on there now which is has a compressed thickness of .039. This will also give me an opportunity to CC my heads and get my correct piston/block deck height so I can get an accurate compression ratio figured out.

I just put a Performer RPM/Holley600 on my 65 330 and it is working very well, it has nice smooth power, I'd highly recommend it to almost anyone.

Like Joe said until you get the info on these two things any recommendation is worthless.

Probably a 2.56, maybe a 2.73 but I'll bet no more than that.

2.73, 3.08, and 3.23 differentials were offered on a 1972 Cutlass, if the rear hasn't been altered or changed. I think the 3.08 was mandatory for California. Do you know if your car was originally sent to Califas or did it just end up there from somewhere else? I thought mine was 2.73 gears, until two days ago. I was sanding the tubes, and took a second look at the code of my axle tube, and it reads SC(3.08) instead of SA(2.73) like I originally thought.
