Help w/TCI throttle/TV cable setup
I am trying to set up the kick down & throttle cable using the TCI TV system #370815 on my '68 Cutlass w/a 350. I am trying to figure out how to attach the throttle return spring on my Edelbrock 1406 carb.
My set up is:
1.Edelbrock 1406 carb
2.Edelbrock intake
3.200-4R trans.
Is there a throttle return spring adapter that I can purchase? Right now I have the springs hooked through the bolt hole where the "corrector" bracket needs to go for the kick-down cable (see photo). If anyone has pics of their set up , it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Dave

Can you use the bracket for both throttle and trans cables like the factory used?
I don't think you want that spring on the throttle cable, does not appear to helping.
Generally speaking, the return spring is BEST placed fwd of the throttle cable to throttle arm anchor, in line with the throttle cable, and attached at the same point [or nearby] on the same side of the throttle arm pivot.
Placing the cable on the top and the spring on the bottom of the pivot produces more load on the throttle shaft, which it seems would led to more rapid wear of the shaft / bushings.
Think of it as sawing using one of these

or polishing the rust off a shaft with a strip of sanding paper.
vs the setup where the return spring is anchored fwd of the carb and more or less where the cable end is. It that case, the spring force goes only to/thru the cable, and the throttle arm is just along for the ride. Placed no undue side loading on the throttle shaft.
