Cam in 307 Olds

Can you run a flat tappet cam in a factory roller block?

I believe it can be but you need the expensive .921" flat tappet lifters, which would equal the price of a roller cam, especially if your roller lifters can be reused. Dale Robinson used them in his 400 hp 307. Is your 307 stock?

^^^THIS!

Keep the roller, get a good grind, and be done with it.

It’s in pops Regal. Just a place holder til 455 done. Was just wanting to pick up a cheap cam just for the heck of it.

But yes, other than headers it’s stock. Not wanting to sink big $ in it. Have a 455 Olds for my Cutlass and 455 Buick for his Regal.

Then don't waste your time. You can't change the cam without changing the carb and distributor. Anything like this will be sinking dollars into that doorstop.

Do you REALLY want to put that much effort into a 307 that you plan to replace?

Why waste time and money you will never get back on a 307 when you have a 455.

Just work on the 455 to begin with.
