Breather 1972 cutlass 350

Hello! Do I need a tube from my valve cover mounted breather to my sir cleaner as it should be for stock or should I use an open breather and plug the air cleaner input? What are the advantages and disadvantages of each? Once I get this running it will be a three season car. Thank you
chris

The advantages of a tube from the valve cover breather to the air cleaner housing is you can get some positive vacuum through the engine at wide open throttle (no vacuum to the pcv) and additional at idle and part throttle. Its not a requirement, a lot of people use an open element valve cover breather with no issues. Basically your choice.
