71 CS, Power Steering Question
Hello,
i replaced my old, worn out steering pump from my 1971 Cutlass with a new one from Rockauto (AlCardone).
The Pump is fitting perfect in the brace. Mounting it was no problem.
BUT today, i wanted to mount my stock pulley on the new Pump. I gently tapped it on the stud with a plastic hammer, till i had enough thread to put on the nut to finally push it in place/tight it down. So i started to tighten the nut, but there is no block step on this stud?
it pushed the pulley so far on the stud that the pulley isn't in one line with the other pulleys like it was on the old pump.
is this normal? Should this be like that you just have to tight the nut so much that pulley is in one line with the others (nut is a self-securing nut)? Or the block step on the stud of the new pump is wrong?
i hope you can understand my description!
greetings from Austria!
