Mine are repairable but the guy doing the work suggested taking a look out into the world to see if there is perhaps a more affordable set that had not been rusting together for 30 years. All of my valves are pitted beyond repair. He says the guides and seats are likely to have survived. Want mostly an idea what a set of decent used heads would go for.

also, what chance is there that a 1985 Oldsmobile Super gmc 454 would mount in without serious modification?

Most any set of heads you find are going to be cores and in need of a rebuild but sound better than what you have. You should be able to get a set for somewhere around $300. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. Chances are they will need some guides and valves and resurfacing. If you can find some close by it will save a lot on shipping because these things are heavy.

I am not sure what a 1985 Oldsmobile Super GMC 454 is. If it is a 454 I imagine it is a Chevy engine. Any later model engine is not going to fit without a lot of modification.
