Hi Allan,
I have a all (close to..) stock 1953 Olds w 4bbl carb.
- Right fitting on element to water pump, added a extra shut of valve to be used in warm days..
- Left fitting on element to front fitting on heater valve
- Rear fitting on heater valve to intake manifold.
I guess its the correct way?
/ Andreas

thanks so much, just what I needed!!!
I will need the fitting at back of manifold, as mine is blocked off, not used on 1950.( if I understand it correctly)
need part name number for the piece that bits on to the rear of manifold on head. or c Loe up pic.
thanks again. Allan

the 53 looks like a flanged fitting with 2 bolts onto the head and the nipple is part of flange, not screwed in? not sure,
looks like a special part and size, might have to fab one?
my 50 has the flange but it has no thread outlet, it is covering the water port and sealed off. it is used as a bracket for the spark plus wire routing.
thanks

There appears to be a bit of confusion. 8.866 is not the part number. It is the group number. Here is what the parts book shows for the 1950 & 1953 V-8 engines:
1949 & 1950 - 88 & 98 .........................elbow (90 degree)...........................part number 3125532
1951 thru 1956 All.................................nipple (1-1/2" long).........................part number 3133153
1953 thru 1956 All ................................nipple (6-1/4" long).........................part number 562995
The long nipple was probably the one used at the front of the engine with the short one used at the rear.
This "might" help the search. I don't know where to find one. The original one may have had the end modified to help keep the hose on, but as Tedd said a standard pipe nipple might do just as well with a good clamp. If necessary, improvise. Something like this should be able to be fabricated.
