Problem with the new post button.

For the last 2 days when I come on I hit the new posts button at the top of the header. When I do, I get the last 495 threads. When I get down a little ways there is a break that says these posts have not been updated. It has happened on both work and home computers. Anybody else having this problem and any ideas.

Thanks Larry

I started having the same problem yesterday so I assume it's a site glitch.

It started last night for me. I also have to hit my back arrow a few times to get to the previous page. I marked the forums read and this seemed to correct the "New Post" issue.

Started happening to me today. Just speculating, but it looks like they may have changed the way their new function works. If that is the case, it will probably just fixing itself the more you use the site. Maybe a moderator has more details on this.

I think it's more than this. For one thing, hitting the "New Posts" button always returns 495 new posts. Not 490 one time, 530 the next time, and 450 the third. You'd think that if it really was a keeping-track-of-the-threads-I've-read issue, the number of new posts would be at least a little different each time.

Second, everyone is getting that same number of new posts, 495. In no way is that just a coincidence. It's clearly a problem with the site.

I've also discovered, with this new issue, that after you've scrolled through as many threads as you might expect to have new posts since your last visit, you encounter a boundary before the rest of the messages saying this:

The threads below have not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts.

I think the messages after this line actually do NOT contain unread posts, but the system thinks you haven't read them, and that's why we're getting the huge number of unread posts. As I said, this is a site issue. The site is not leaving cookies correctly on your computer. Something like that.

my USER CP

The user CP button brings up threads to which there have been no new posts as well as those to which new posts have been added. Strange.

Hi folks,

As we're developing our forums to be seen across multiple devices by the same users, we switched over our read/unread to be based upon user data on the database instead of cookies.

It is a much better system overall, it's just that tech didn't really tell us it would mark everything unread.

If you've caught up, go through and mark the forums read and it will start keeping track the way it should.

If it doesn't.....then let us know.

Im not sure but it seems since this happened, I cant post pics. I get that "missing security token" message. Not sure if its connected to this or not, but i never had a problem before. That is after i finally figured out how to post pics! Anyway an administrator contacted me, hes going to try to resolve the problem when i can email the pics to him.

OK, here's a really, really, really, really, really, really, dumb question. How do you mark a forum as read?

Going to the quick links menu and selecting mark all as read should work (I assume)

I just welcomed Jerry and his Son, hit new posts and
boom, same 495 new posts. But where is " The welcome?",
back a few pages... Going to quick links now. We'll see I guess.

Hmmm. That may just work. Still have to click
today's posts and it brings you back to the 'post's below have been read.'
But I only have three pages instead of 495.
