In 1993 I joined AOL (it was on a floppy at a time) as a replacement/augmentation for Prodigy - which I got reduced fee as an IBMer. So I needed a username other than the fixed HCWX06A p* gave me.
so, at the time, what was I? what was my passion?
In 1993 I went 48 of the 52 weekends...riding. riding what? hence, here we go...(it is a play on words like Powers Booth uttered in the original movie 'Red Dawn'. He said, 'I am an eagle driver' and for decades SR-71 pilots were 'sled-drivers'...)
and since its still my email, good chance it is one of the oldest continuous use emails on the planet....

Touching story Troy, sorry for your loss at such a young age as best friends are hard to come by.
Myself I was watching "Tales of the Cript" when I picked my handle and my kids thought it was a riot so here I am. I now have 14 Oldsmobiles, 1 Vette, 1 Suburban, 1 Jeep and a Cadillac.

I loved reading your story about good times with your buddy. It made me think about my own high school days and all the shenanigans we pulled back then (early eighties). We used to put mothballs in the gas tank when filling up (I read somewhere that the Benzene ring in napthalene would boost the octane of the fuel. We were 16 and didn't know any better. One Friday night as we cruised our local scene, we got pulled over by two local cops. We had just filled the tank and my buddy Mike was holding a small tupperware container that held the mothballs. The cops were trying to be funny with us and asked "...if we had been in the spirits" that night. I had never heard that term used for alcohol before and the cops were getting frustrated with my lack of understanding. Then they saw the tupperware box and were sure they were on to our "stash". One of the cops asked Mike what was in the box. Now, Mike was a complete sissy when it came to cops, I thought he was gonna pee himself, but I'll never forget the look on the cops face when he answered them. "Mothballs, we put them in the gas tank," he said. That was not the answer the cops were expecting; they totally lost their bad-*** composure and busted out laughing. They never looked in the box but kept us for about 20 minutes while all our buddies drove by and made fun of us for getting busted by the cops.
In 1993, after finishing my degree in electrical engineering, I was working in the music studio business as a mastering engineer and cd duplicator. I drove a '71 Cutlass Supreme at the time, Viking Blue with a white halo top, man I loved that car! During my band years, I could fit an entire PA system (amps and speakers) in the back seat, 2 large keyboards and several equipment racks in the trunk and still have room for a spare tire and toolbox in the trunk.
When I set up my first email account I chose cdrod@... and it's been with me ever since. Like Quaddriver, it may also be one of the oldest continuos use emails on the planet. I use this screen name on all the car forums, so if you see a post by cdrod...it's me.

It's great as always to pay homage to anything! But to a great friend!
Mine happens to be self explanatory also! I use it on all forums car related or not, well on the T.A. Maui forum first name last initial.

My now deceased Lab. Every time I would pull the car out he would be right beside me...but only when he heard the 455. He could care less for any other car. It was very strange....

well my first car/olds was an 87 cutlass ciera but my first olds that really got me into the scene was my 88 Cutlass Supreme Classic. I got it april of 2000 and it was stolen march 4, 2001. I never got it back but i did see it again in the police impound. It was held for over a year as evidence which is beyond me why they needed to hold a car in evidence over a swapped vin plate. The PPD auto squad werent the brightest bulbs in the bunch. i found out more on the streets about what happened to my car and who had it and its not like pittsburgh is mayberry. Car was code 31 blue with a blue top and blue buckets/console and when i found it the vin had been swapped and the car was painted candy maroon with a white top and had brougham interior. One oddity was that i had ordered a vanity plate for the car, "88 CUTTY". well the car was stolen on a sunday morning and the plate came the next day. The system was already showing the plate as 88CUTTY but in reality it was still afixed with "BFB-2992". The braniacs at the PPD couldnt wrap their heads around this concept. It was just bad timing. The day before it got stolen I had put my chrome rallys back on.
i replaced the car with my 85 SS (which i still have and just swapped a rocket 350 in). Owning that Ch**y didnt fill the void so a year later I also bought my dream Olds, 83 Hurst Olds. My car getting stolen was the spring board to bigger and better things but i still miss that car everyday.

Sorry I got no imagination. Seemed to fit so I went with it. I really wanted to put in Supercoolshifterkartdriver but it was too long. LOL!
I just noticed this is the tenth year of me visiting this site and restoring my Olds. Are you kidding me! How did that happen and were did those 10 years go. I swear it was only 3 years ago I tore my car apart for the second time.

Mine came from bookkeeping when I used to work at my fathers construction company.
they had a 3 letter code for employees, and they used our initials.
Since I'm named after my father they couldn't use the same initials.
Dads was JCS and they made mine JCJS with the second J meaning junior... but they weren't allowed 4 letters so they changed the S to a 5.
Then to set up e-mail accounts, they used your first name plus the letters before @thecompanyemail.com. So that made me johncj5@... Then they changed my initials to JJS for some reason, but the e-mail stuck.

Back in the 90s I worked at a place where everyone had a nickname. So I was Kevdog, Kdog, or just dog. Don't know why, maybe Kevin was too hard to pronounce. It kind of stuck and my close friends still call me that. (my not so close friends have other names they call me) but no one calls me Kevin.
I threw in the kind of car I like at the end of it.

I guess my obsession with 442's began in high school with a 74, then a 66 442 cpe. and a 66 F-85 vert I got out of Co. Followed up with a 68 Toro then a 73 H/O rust bucket.
About a 10 yr. sabbatical, then found a 67 Delmont vert, sold it for the the 69 442 cpe. Tore it down and got burned by a body guy. Got pissed and bought the 66 442 vert because, well, it is just so cool. Then a buddy over in Austin had the 70 442 project that I just couldn't turn down for the price. I'm a true blue 442 kinda guy.

My best friend and I ,when we were in our teens , often double dated 2 girls that lived in a small community about 15 miles away. I had a '55 Olds Super 88 and he had a '56 Chev,210 2 Dr. Post. We would go in one car one time then discuss whose car would be used the next time.
He called my Olds "The Rocket " so I ended up being the "Rocket Owner" .
He died at 42 with a massive heart attack, so I picked the handle "Rocketowner" in his memory. Larry

The short answer is that 'Human' is a gesture of humility. But it's also a tribute to a cousin of mine whose much older brothers called him Human when he was little and he would get so worked up over it that he would scream "I am NOT human!!!" Sadly, he passed away about 10 years ago.

The greatest muscle car Oldsmobile ever built. Period.
or
70 minus 442 minus W*30, which we will assume W is for William, which has 7 characters. Don't forget PEMDAS. So 70-442-210. It equals -582...which means exactly nothing to me except I was checking the specs on the endline for the...rotary...girder. RIP Farley!

I would love to say that one was still living. It was the one that was suppose to get the 455. However, I was getting married, fiancée's 84 Cutlass needed a transmission. We were taking her car on the honeymoon to Fla. Pulled the transmission pit it in her car. Never got the 455 to come to fruition, and it died a slow death sitting in a field. Pictures are a little deceiving, it needed a lot of body work.
Still have the wife, soon to be 27 years, and a couple of the C/S pieces that I saved are going in the 442. So, we're good!

It's Snoop Dog talk for Mostyles(hood speak for 'more styles') which was a name used in a comedy skit that was on a local groups album. Basically I've been using the same screen since both of those things were cool AKA the dawn of the internet.
Also, I understand that either of those things having ever been cool is debatable.
