I agree about the balancer, that seems unlikely. But there were at least two in that thread that claimed their car came with the 253 carb. At least there is factory documentation that they did use...

Interesting... I wonder if this was done on purpose? As we know the hood rarely lines up with the fender in this area due to the shape of the hood. Perhaps they were relieving stress in the frame...

Just asking as I am restoring a 4 speed rallye with 3:42's and have yet to source a correct radiator....

The closest thing to factory is what we used to call dum-dum, 3M strip caulk. It is black and does not harden. Aside from being black and coming in narrower strips it is identical.

For my 1970 Rallye 350 I bought Goodmark quarters and outer wheel houses, which were good quality, not quite as thick as original though. The trunk floor drop offs all come from the same manufacturer...
