Just got my new Lunati Roller cam delivered by Fedex, super excited!

My question is if I should run the bronze shim behind the cam face where it meets the block along with the long bolt and thrust button?
These are like new old Mondello parts Ive been using for years with my flat tappet cams.
I wasnt sure if it would effect where or how the cam and distributor gear meet.
Also have the shim that goes on the crank behind the lower timing gear to keep the chain alligned.

Alot of views without a reply. I'm going to use what I've been using for years. Going to set cam endplay equal to the crankshaft with the bolt and thrust button

Yes, I would use the washer behind the cam as well as the shim behind the crank gear. Set your end play at approx. .010 and you'll be fine. What grind did you go with?

Sounds like you have everything well under control, no worries. I can't imagine a few thousandths of an inch of axial cam motion having any detrimental effect on the mesh with the oil pump drive gear.

20420712 i talked to Lunati yesterday and they told me they stopped selling roller lifter for Oldsmobiles. I still need to purchase these along with a bronze dist gear and valve springs/retainers to match the cam for my Edelbrock rm heads.

thanks man. Jindof what i thought but since this roller stuff is more costly im paraniod of anything going south. The flat tapper i had took a crap on me this spring and about ruined everything i built over the winter.

I can get you all of those pieces. Let me know.
If you have the cam core I think you have you don't need a bronze gear either. A Mallory composite is the way to go.

I no this is kind of off base but advance it until you have what cranking compression your after.

Can you tell me where to find a composite distributor gear for my 455? Do you sell them? I would be glad to purchase through you if possible.
I am having my 455 built now and am switching to a roller cam and am having trouble finding a composite gear. This is a pretty mild street build designed for a lot of torque to have fun on the street.
The cam is a Comp Cams special grind that my builder recommended- 215/224 @ .050 with .525/.525 lift with the Edelbrock RPM heads.
Any help would be appreciated.
