putting a groove on crank

Talking putting a groove on crank

hi has anybody tried adding a groove in center for each rod on the crank so oil goes 360 around the connecting rod bearings . and adding hi vol oil pump... whats the diff between that and some main bearings doing that .as im thinking of trying that on the next olds build ......

Well, you could. I would bet to say that it has already been done. If by no one else than engine designers from way back when. But it would serve no purpose but to cut your load bearing ability in half. The rods get plenty of oil, if your getting plenty of oil to the crank to begin with. You'd be better served with modifying the first few feet of the oiling system in the block to help the oil get to the main galleys.
