what yall think

I just recently finished my 455 build. Its in a 79 cutlass supreme with a turbo 350 trans and 373 gears. The motor has speed pro 9 to 1 pistions, comp cams 284 296 duration and 541 544 lift. Ported C heads with 2.07 and 1.68 valves. Its all topped with a Torker intake and a Holley 850. I wanna get it dynoed but I'm running short on cash. What kinda power yall think I'm putting out? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Save 400 for the half day on the dyno. You will be glad u did and it will save u cash in the long run

400 isn't as bad as I expected. I was looking for higher.

I think he meant it would cost $400. for the half day, money well spent.

Too much cam for that compression, too much carb for that intake, I'll say 350-375 at the wheels but not till the mid 5000 range.
Figure Mondello did almost the same build on HP TV 2-3 years ago.
With Edelbrock heads, the same cam, 870 Street Avenger and a Performer it made 456 at the crank, on a cold morning. I'll stick with my guess.

Jmo.

How is that to much cam? What would be a more suitable cam in your opinion?

It's not too much cam, it's too much cam for your compression ratio imo.
That cam needs closer to 10.0:1 and so does that intake. And unless you're mostly strip you could have a gone a little smaller on the carb with that intake.

I just think your combo is a bit off, but that's just my opinion.

What number Speed Pro piston did you use?

I'm in the works of getting a new carb. The double pumper is a loaner. What would be your suggestions on a good carb?

I also have a performer intake. Which one is better for street and strip?

Try a 750 on the existing Torker and see how it goes from there.

I think it will do 12's all day but that cam is too big for your compression like Cutlassefi said. My guess is lower, between 400-425

Will someone explain to me at what point a cam becomes to large for compression? This was my first build.

Do you know the specs at .050?

Actually the Dynamic Compression ratio is more important overall than the Static Compression ratio.
This article is more eloquent than I could ever be and more informative.

guess & advice

335 hp & 390 TQ to the ground is my guess on your build. Your cam is a little much for your compression ratio. Also an 850 might make more power on the dyno but a 750 is plenty of carb for that engine on a daily basis.

Sure hope you spent some cash on that T350.

I recently dyno's my 1970 Cutlass W-31 for $450. Best $450 I spent on the car. The tuning got the a/f just right & now the car runs the best it can.

If you have a chance to dyno the car & tune it DO IT!!!!!!!!

I spent a good bit on the trans. It was built by a gm specialist in my area. What is a good cam to go with. I'm open to options and opinions on anything. Like I said I'm new to the game and I will appreciate any advice from anyone willing to give.

Try the 750 first, then go from there.

Your build is very close to what I have except I have 9.5 to 1 comp and running a 2004r trans with a 3000 stall converter and I run 12.20s at 108 as drivin on the street and long trips.
