heyn this goes out to someone within the system in illinois. I heard that oswego dragstrip might be open for running this year is it true? there is always talk but who needs blah blah blah and keyboard bad a--es they usually just sit around and get nothing acomplished just look around for them.

I doubt they would re open that old track. Now they do have the oswego drag days reunion very diffrent as that is a carshow kinda deal. Also your last comment made no sense to the question asked and bs.

You are correct Rob, Mike Barnes. Pretty fast street car but never showed how fast. Blanked out the scoreboard in his lane so no one knew exactly how fast it really was, especially his actual street competition.

If he was a grudge racer on the street scene I'm sure someone on chitownracing.com might know. There is still a lot of old street racers out there some on the track for good some on the street still.

Actually his name is Mike Berns. The car had a 482 CID engine. He and Nick Filippides had a grudge thing going on over who had the fastest NA 10.5 Olds many years ago. Last I saw of the car it was on Ebay approximately 7-8 yrs. ago. I talked to the guy selling it (not Mike Berns) and at that time it was still together and running in the 9's. It didn't make reserve and he called me to try to make a deal outside of Ebay. He said 30k would buy it but I passed on it.

Mike Bern's car will always be one that impresses me.He was running real fast way back then. The engine was built at Atlantic Speed.Big compression, titanium rods,Batten heads, etc. There was an article titled "9 Seconds Under Chicago",about Mike's car.The car is currently under different ownership, stored away.

Someone else owns the space now but he's still around.
