A posi and a low gear. Traction is a must. You'll need a stall and I'll let the experts give you specs on the motor build. It's possible on a street car to see daylight under one tire.

My only questions is, you say it's a 68 442, yet you don't have a posi rear-end?

68 442's didn't come standard with a posi rear. If you didn't order an option you got a 3.08 open.

Posi wasn't standard on any 442 - it was an option!

Doing some weight reduction on your car will help. Relocating the battery to the trunk will take some weight off the front end.

I'm gonna watch and see. JMHO, $5000-6000, will give the lil rice grinder a run for the money. But I think it will still end badly.

You will need to swap that 400 g block to a 455.

With only $5-6K to work with I don't feel like you'll even begin to come close to lifting the tires. You might get close with NO2 - A LOT OF IT, slicks, and rear gears with posi. but that's gonna be hard on your current engine.

It can be done, but not as cheaply as some people make it out to be.

6000.00 will build the engine, then you need trans, converter, rearend, tire, some suspension pieces.

*** em they usually have a fart pipe wanna bee car how about used aluminum heads bump the compression about 11 to 1 premium head gaskets jm 20 22 cam for power brakes, girdle for the bottom end plus a new oil pump and pan. that should put you at about420 mto 440 net at the wheels,342 and a posi both used of course and most of all about a extra 225 hit of nitrous then ****em all and let them eat crap. then those fart pipes can bench race until the end of time.

If lifting the front wheels off the ground is your goal, all you need to do is put some 4.56 gears in the rear with a spool and some slicks.

Put about a 150 lbs in a weight box as far back in the trunk that you can bolt and weld one in there.

Put a trans break in the trans and install a 9" convertor with around 4000 stall.

Remove the sway bar and put some 90/10 shocks on up front.

Air bags or atleast air shocks with more in the passengers side shock.

Right? But you might want to check the roof line for cracks:
