Hi

I'm new to this forum and have really enjoyed reading this thread. I have uploaded a photo of the yellow Lubik Olds sponsored 442 that my father John Wilson used to race in 1970/71 in F/SA and then later in SS/IA. I was 8 years old back then and have great memories of watching Dad race at dragstrips like Englishtown, Syracuse, Atco and Cayuga. Good times. I've long since moved to England but drag racing has remained in my blood and I still love a trip up to Santa Pod to watch the racing.

If anybody else has any photos of Dad's car, please share them. This one is pretty much the only one that I have.

Cheers!
Chris

Way cool Chris. I don't believe I've seen the yellow one. If I find another picture I'll be sure to share it. Maybe Vistacruiser has a pic or two of it

Vista Cruiser has a copy of the picture I posted above in his gallery plus there's also another one here at 4:47:

It was definitely yellow with black hood scoops, and I remember the lettering on the front fenders read 'John Wilson, Owner Operator' followed by a Canadian flag. Dad only raced the car for a year or so and then ran out of time and cash. He was pretty competitive though and had a go at resetting the SS/IA class record but unfortunately didn't back up the run.
Dad sold the car in 1972 I think to a lawyer in Ontario who had it sprayed sparkle dark blue and put it back on the street. I don't think it ever raced again.

Yes, they are Wayne Shipley's cars. He is also building ANOTHER '65 that will resemble Anderson Olds' first race car, a red/white '65 post car. Wayne is a GREAT GUY and I consider it an honor to be his friend. He and his son do my engines and help me quite a lot overall.

Funny how many of the new car dealers swapped from a '68 W-30 to a '69 W-31!

1975 Cutlass Donutrun

Here's the race car my brother and I have been running at Bandimere speedway for the last 9 years. I built the 1968 Olds Toronado 461 cu in engine to be a low maintenance engine. We have over 650 1/4 mile passes and change the oil once a season. Spark plugs have been changed twice in 9 years. The trans is a TH-400 with a 3200 RPM stall converter and the rear is a 4.10 GM 10 bolt posi with Moser axles. This Cutlass started life at 4250 lbs and now weighs 3490 without driver. The best time for Donutrun has been 12.70 @ 105.4 mph.
We have a test n tune on Wednesday nights sponsored by the Colo. State Patrol and the officers get the biggest kick out of our Cutlass!

Don't know if this is a repost, but I've never seen this car.
I don't know anything about it, except that it was probably from BC or the Pacific Northwest.
enjoy!

Frustration

Does anyone have any info on the gold "69 from page 1 named Frustration??
I'd love to learn about it.
I have spoken with the son of the original owner of the Manarina Olds car.
I am biased towards gold '69 W31 posts -

I am in touch with the current owner of this 1969 Oldsmobile F85 W31:-)

This picture is courtesy of Colesy's Place Face Book Page. The picture is at Cayuga in 1970 at the NHRA Nationals. (Racing a car just like mine:-)

This W31 is about as cool as it gets, Sable Brown, gold stripes, gold bench seat interior, W31, M21, TY 4.33 gears. Ordered new at Belmont Chev Olds in Toronto Ontario:-)

That is a great car and great picture. I'm in touch with the original owner of my car and he's been looking for any pics of my car when new. The second owner (who I bought it from) is doing the same.
Ive owned my car since '88 but dont have even 1 picture of it prior to that.
