Not that I am aware of. Here is a great story on it.

Thanks for the reply
Nice wright up on Berejik and the history of the Smothers Brothers race team.
Berejik mentions the record 12.39 and that Bobby Andresen was the guy.
Great thread great pictures

Thank you for the complements Bernhard. The thread credit and photo agglomeration goes to Vistacruiser67. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have posted 80% of the pics in this thread.

At the time he wasn't sure how to create the thread in the right location, so I volunteered to do so. As well as help relocate Oldsmobile race car pics from various threads and forums that otherwise would've been buried in time and umpteen million pages of Chebbies & Phords.

Rocket On!

Gee this looks a lot like a similar fate to my car's predecessor. El Malo Nagro

Why do so many of the race cars have crushed in roofs?
There are at least 3 68's that had the roof crushed.

Towing or racing?

99% of the time it's racing. A lot of that percentage is barrel rolling over the guard rails and or barricades. That much HP and torque in what should be a fairly short and simple trip down a 1/4 mile, a lot can go wrong.... Fast.

Whether it be debris on the track, fluid(s) leaking from the car being driven getting onto the drive tire, fluid(s) on the track getting on a drive tire, tire failure, u-joint (driveshaft) failure and front suspension failure to name a few ways of how things get ugly. The car would normally track straight but if any of these things happen, the car takes an abrupt turn one way or the other. Then hits the wall or car in opposing lane and may begin to flip or even barrel roll.

The pic or page that it is on, does not appear to be laying flat, so that could possibly distort it.

Guys:
Oldsmobiles are great cars and even better looking race cars, I see so many Mustangs, Camaros and Chevelles I just shake my head. When I took my 66 Cutlass to the shows in town, there was always a crowd around it because you just don,t see that many Oldsmobiles on the road. The Big Body Delta 88 above was an awesome looking race car, keep the pictures coming guys!
Thanks, Ron

Looking for more pictures or information for Rich Anderson and his '69 olds " BRANDED" for his son, Jeff (Spike) Anderson . Rich passed away in 2004 and we have no pictures of his racing days.

There are a few in this 30 page thread. Have you seen those yet? I try to post them all as I find them. Especially the classics.
