Edelbrock total power package or just heads

I was thinking of upgrading the top end of my 455 found this setup on Edelbrocks web site I was wondering if anyone has used this kit and if so what you thought about it If so what rockers did you use Or if anyone has used just the Edelbrock heads witch rockers did you choose and are you happy with the there are a lot of choices Scorpion Comp cams offers a few choices Harland Sharp I'm sure the list goes on just looking for a little input so I can make an educated choice

Iím running Harlan sharp rockers on my Edelbrock heads. I havenít seen a Edelbrock catalog in years, so I donít know if they have updated the Olds line of camshafts. Since itís not chebby, Iím guessing the list is still pretty small! The camshaft thru recommend is pretty puny and outdated, you can find much better options today. Call any reputable cam company (or talk to Mark on this forum) they can either suggest a cam or custom grind one.

Hmm not really.
Let me explain. The Edelbrock flat tappet cams are very generic grinds, unfortunately somewhat lazy.
Conversely the Mondello cams are done by Engle and can be a bit noisy depending on the grind.
That Edelbrock top end kit is a decent deal, except for the cam, again an old grind.
What power level at you shooting for? Maybe I can help, Iíve posted lots of builds and combos on here.
Let me know. Thanks.

That would explain the white boxes. I wonder if they actually measure anywhere close to what they should.

Just as an observation cutlassefi called the engle cams noisy . define noisy. I ran the voodoo lunati cam which in the past he claimed noisy and was super quiet for me. I now run a solid flat tappet cam and is quiet. Just curious what noisy means because . My solid cam is really quiet. little to no valve train noise. My voodoo was also very quiet and I ran it at .010 preload and it was very quiet.

Iíve had many different cams, rockers and such in front of me. When I say noisy I mean ďsewing machine likeĒ.
When you say ďlittle to noĒ noise, is it a little, or none? You either hear it or you donít. Just like youíre either pregnant or not, thereís no in-between
The smaller Voodoo grinds are normally ok, just like the smaller Engle/Mondello grinds. But the larger you get typically the noisier they are. Sorry if I didnít make that distinction.
Op- hydraulic is hydraulic whether or not itís a flat tappet or roller. And you can have a mild roller just the same way you can have a ďraceĒ flat tappet.
If youíre eventually going to switch heads then Iíd do a 236/[email protected] with .565 lift on both. That would make best use of those heads.

Valvetrain can make other very minor subtle operational noises which wont sound like a sewing machine so little to none is dependant on what you can hear. Although the term a little pregnant is funny .,noise can be faint enough to not be there but be there. Kinda like detonation just because it cant be heard does not mean its not there. So when I say little to none im hearing very very subtle operational noises. Stock valvetrain on these cars was pretty quiet but you can hear it operate to an extent and its not like a sewing machine.
