My engine code is 395558 2 and I have a number 5 on my heads just trying to get an idea of what year the engine is from

If it hasn't been jacked with it sounds like a 69 350.

#5 heads were used in both 1968 and 1969. The heads could easily have been swapped, so you would need to look at the VIN pad on the block to determine the year of manufacture. Not that it really matters much, as the 68 and 69 engines were identical.
