supercharged 455 pictures
Hi guys, anyone here is running a supercharger on his '73-'77 442 ?? Please post some pictures to see how it looks on the car. I have a 1976 442 455 that I am thinking of putting a superchage on. Thanks

What /why are you looking to go this direction. Is it for racing or street use.

WOW NO ONE WHANTS TO SHARE LATE A-Body supercharged stories. I am In the middle of a 455 build now I will work on some pics soon
I believe it's because the limits of the block can be reached just fine NA.

Dick miller has a add on ROP in for sale forum a procharged 496 olds engine. He also has a twin turbo 496 olds engine. My thoughts on this thread is yeah you can super charge but the cost isn't cheap. Yeah you can make it a street motor or strip. Just add $$$$$$

I wanna build a low boost turbo sbo build. I think 10 psi would be enough for stuff to not break things. Might detune the 355 i have now when the new one goes in and go for it with EFI.

Supercharger
Here is a link to a good website about doing a 425 supercharger build http://2loose.chevytalk.org/55fourdoor00.html makes a ton of torque and breaks parts. Oh in most cases people use a Offy low profile dual quad intake as the base and weld a base-plate to it to mount the supercharger.

1boss83 I was looking at the FI tech set up. they have a set up that would work well for the amount of boost i would run. I would want the set up to be fool proof . For now its a thought but making a turbo set up is cheap so to speak so a budget boost build might be in my future or not a N/A BBO but turbo'd sbo sounds so much better.

Copper, if you go for a turbo set up and stay at around 10 psi consider a holset hx35 turbo. It's very close to the same size as mine but seem to be easier to find. I have zero turbo lag, it feels like a strong n/a engine. You could push as high as 15psi but you'd want an intercooler or meth injection. If I ever get around to putting the accel I got from Mark on my car I'll start pushing it towards 15psi.

Thanks young olds. I plan on running 10 psi. Just to be easy on parts. I have no real plans so to speak as im still running the engine i would like to de tune. I am going to just run BBO heads to get the compression down. The more i give i thought and with the price of FI kits going down seems like a no brainer.

It's definitely fun, the way it pulls when in boost. I'd definitely go efi on a driver, not that a carb isn't doable efi is just better in a turbocharged application I feel. My engine has held together fine so far, and I'm going to run it till it blows then build a stronger short block
