torque storm supercharger? Dyno numbers?

Does anyone have any data on these? Junk? Good? I talked to them on the phone and pretty much said I might be limited to 6-7lbs of boost, Once I asked about under drive pulley they quickly said not to do it. Would like to know what combos have been used and what dyno numbers I can expect. I am planning a twin turbo setup but for $2,800 its so tempting!! 6lbs isn't to attractive though. What other options for boost are out there for the 455? Sorry kinda new to the olds stuff and searched for torqstorm and really no answers out there.

First things first, what will you be doing to the block/crank etc to handle the extra hp and tq?

I am also tempted. I’ve got a set of Icon 887 pistons (25cc dish) that have been sitting on the shelf for years.

A typical super charger will gain you 40% power depending on the boost.

Guy over on the 73-77oldsmobilefreeforum.net site just installed the Torque storm supercharger in his Olds.
Not sure if he made any runs with the set-up yet.

I think 10 lbs with a small block on " stock ish " components would live very well assuming you didn't cross a certain threshold. I saw the dickmiller post and I already did a sniper efi on my Pontiac. But I think a 400 ish sbo under boost altogether would be a really nice combo that most guys would do and you will end up with a really street friendly set up imo.

I called Dick Miller to ask him if it would work well with multi port injection. He said it would. I’m thinking of going that route. With a 9:1ish 455.

That's cheap! Does anyone have one? Haven't seen one yet on an Olds (irl).

Does anyone know what should be done to prep a 455 block for this power?

I installed one on my 69 H/O clone along with a Richmond 5 speed manual trans. Holly sniper X 900 HP unit - I was told do not build engine like traditionally roots blower engines with low compression. I targeted 9 to 1 and used BME aluminum rods, 425 crank and lightweight Venolla pistons . Custom hydraulic roller cam from RR.
I got the car running last summer but ran into alot of little issues that kept me from taking it on the road more than short drives. Currently I'm not so sure about the Sniper since it has some popping issues when trying to drive it at low rpm. I bagged it for the year in frustration. I have plans to adjust the valves again to make sure they are correct.
The FI with timing control seems pretty complicated to work out timing control adjustments. I did it twice exactly like they say and hired a tuner to do the same, still had some popping issues.. This might require someone with laptop tuning skills. Engine must heat up hot for the unit to start working and learn to tune itself. My engine did not like running 190-220 range and there is little room for non perfect cooling system. I had be cool aluminum and duel fans and still had issues with unit wanting to run away heating up. The stock air filter with the kit will not clear tall valve covers. I had to cut a hole in my hood to clear plumbing with Offy supersonic and 2 inch spacer.
The blow off valves was constantly blowing off on every shift so not sure a manual transmission is best choice.
Once summer rolls around here i will try to update this thread.

The T/S kit was good and included everything needed. Instructions were good. Very hard to get the belt on and had to loosen all the mounting bolts to get enough wiggle to get the belt on.
I have bad feeling about the Holley sniper but hopefully can figure it out.

Alaska, you really need a datalog to figure out what is going on, even just a cruise around the block. I had a helluva time with my fitech, until I figured out how fat it was. The "self learning" is a fairly narrow window, so if you're way outside that, you'll be fighting a ghost. I'd love to hear that thing work for you!

Thanks for the offers Mark, but currently the car is in cold storage and not really accessible until spring here.( I don't have one )
I hope to send along a data log once i get it out in the summer. I had a thought the lifters might have pumped up and i need to re-adjust the valves and it requires a lot of time o remove the head unit .

I spent a lot of time with the Holley tech line as there own instructions show 2 different ways to set up the timing control and they would not answer which one i should use so finally i watched a utube video and the Holley tech used 15 degrees advanced for starting point instead of 45.
Adjustable MSD cap phased rotor and even drilled holes in my old cap so i could see the rotor to adjust it.
Hopefully things can be tuned and get some time driving this summer

Yeah maybe. But I can tell you I had a similar problem with a regular Sniper here. It was the computer on the unit itself. I’m not a fan of these, personally I think they’re junk. The Terminator is way better system vs any of the Snipers in my experience.

I took a glance at their site and looked at the instruction manual. I did not see any mention or see any pictures of accessories. Most of us have alternators and power steering and some have A/C. I worked for Paxton back in the early 90's. All kits had to be made to work with accessories. This was a big reason it took a long time to get a new kit into production.

No, not mine. I grabbed that pic from their Facebook page, but the normal website has a couple more.

Ok thanks guess i will have to look again. I saw a pic with accessories with two blowers. The only pic I saw with a single blower was literally by itself on the motor. Even the instructions didn't say a word about accessories. Seemed really odd.

They generally sell kits with all accessories included. Most of the resellers will have selections to tell which accessories you want, then Torq puts the kit together. Yeah, there aren't a whole lot of them out in the wild and not a lot of docs on their site, so hard to get the precise details.

Like most things in the Olds world, if it's something you think you want, close your eyes and throw money at it. Maybe something good will happen!

Kind of like the Rocket Racing heads. I can't really find a lot on them. At least not enough to make me want to throw money at them. LOL

Ahhh there is the catch. You have to go to their plus system not just the single charger system. Quite a bit more money but includes the bracketry, new compressor, alternator and P/S pump. Never seen one offered with the accessories as part of the package. Not a bad idea all of mine are old and shot. A/C is still R-12

Do you have A/C? my car is in pieces right now but when together looking into the engine compartment from the front. P/S is lower right with Alt right above it. A/C is on the left side where the blower needs to be in their basic system.

No I don't have AC and don't see where it would work unless you used the aftermarket pully system
