Convertible Frame (Chassis) boxed sections

Looking for a pair of boxed sections for a 1971 Cutlass convertible.

I'm going to weld them into a pristine coupe frame.

Thanks

John

John,
I will take delivery of a '69 Cutlass convertible this week, but the frame is pretty crusty. I won't know if the boxed sections are nice for a little while, but give me a call?
Thanks.

John, I have a couple of frames already out; I'll check on the boxed areas.

When you weld in the boxing sections, use the trans crossmember to ensure they are the proper distance apart, and that the holes for the trans mount are centered.

Thanks guys...

Scott, since you were the first to post, I'll give you first shot and call you soon... then if it isn't near perfect then I'll move on down to give the next guy a shot.

Rund... EXCELLENT tip! I have a spare convert crossmember so I won't even need to unbolt it once its in there.

John,
I appreciate the first shot, but I know just from a quick glance that the frame sections are no where perfect so I'll give the next guy a shot.
Thanks.

Ok, I'm not that skilled in metal work (yet), so I'm not sure I want to work on ones that need rot replacement.... however... if cheap enough...

Ok, let me know. Where about in South FL? Wife is talking about a trip to Orlando very soon. May be able to save some shipping $$ depending where you are.

I'm near Ft. Lauderdale, about 2 1/2 hours South of Orlando. I'm close to I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, so it's fairly straight shot. If it stops raining long enough I'll get some pics. Thanks, Bob.

Ok, keep me posted. PM me a ball park price if you don't mind. This way I have time to talk it up with the wife if its a great deal... of course I may have to sacrifice some time away from Disney or Universal... but I think she will survive if I just leave her with the boy in Downtown Disney

if you are there on Saturday night, you might want to go to the Old Town Cruise night on rt 192 (not far from the mouse house towards Kissimmee)

Unhappy frame sections

Sorry John, I finally got out to look at them; not good candidates for what your wanting to do. The passenger side has a rot hole in front lower corner. The only thing that I have is a complete rolling chassis, but I wouldn't want to cut it up. Good luck with your search.

well.... here is a thought... what do you want for the vert rolling chassis, and is it completely done up, or just complete? I'd hate to buy something I really don't need though... then I could sell off this frame to recoup some money..

Convertible Frame (Chassis)

John, rather than tie up the forum, I have sent you an email with details of the chassis. Thanks, Bob.

LOL, I appreciate your consideration, BUT this is the thread I started looking for this item... LOL

On the flip side, I do prefer business via PM anyway.

Here's another option for boxing it yourself

Interesting...

But I'm also pondering the option that Rocketman has presented.
