The Repros are $300 bucks and they are garbage. My car came with a set brand new in the box when i bought it a couple of years ago, so i had them painted and installed. The paint continues to bubble on both mirrors even after sealing the metal at least 6 times and repainting 3-times. There is some sort of contaminates that are in the Chinese metal that keep seeping through the sealant and into the paint. One other problem is the metal plate on the back of the drivers side mirror that holds the little wires for the remote is so thin that the wires for the remote pull right out of the plate and it gets bent out of shape just working the remote.

The best thing to do is skip the junky $300 dollar Repros and put that money towards a set of originals. I paid about $350 for a set of originals(1970 only mirrors-not cheap) but you will be saving alot of trouble. I plan on installing mine(originals i purchased) in spring.

Thanks for the input, I've been wondering about the quality of the repros. Kind of ironic that USA made 40 year old parts are better quality than brand new foreign junk!!

As most OER things are. Cheap materials these days with cheaper and thinner metallurgy.

On this one I'd totally agree, source it from a beater Cutlass.

Not really, it's par for the course actually.
When it comes to STEEL, old Detroit Steel is far better metallurgy.
Old American made things usually lasted far longer too.

Grab any new car and push up against the door skin......it will bubble.
Now go to an OEM door panel on a classic with MUCH bigger doors.
They don't budge.

I have an aftermarket door skin on my 78 camaro, it buckles easily. Not quality stuff.

who, that's a bummer, I know the new sheet metal isn't the greatest either but that's the first I have heard about the mirrors being so bad - oh well.
