OG Valve Body
#2
I have piles of 400 valve bodies, plus a bucket of valves and springs. I have always wondered what the yellow paint codes on the valve bodies mean, do you know of a way the identify valve body calibration by the yellow paint? Or, if you know what specific valve/spring/bushing, and spacer plate goes to what application, that is info I would love to read.

Unfortunately I have no idea what the paint marks mean but am also interested in finding out. I'm looking for this valve body for a friend and have asked him for casting numbers and pics of all sides so we can match up designs if possible.

Without a way to determine what the paint marks mean, I would have no idea what what a OG valve body would look like. I have been searching for a couple years for the 1-2 detent valve used in the BB and OW trans. According to some other experts, this special valve and bushing is what allowed the W-30 and Buick Stage One cars make a WOT 3-1 downshift about about 20mph. When I worked at Coan years ago I’m sure I scraped plenty of those parts tearing down valve body cores so they could be machined for the manual and transbrake valve bodies. Other than the shift valves, not much of the factory parts is used.
