1984 old custom cruiser wagon
I am restoring my 84 olds custom cruiser and posted this earlier but forget to include the gm part number. I am trying to find the door ajar switch for the rear tailgate. Gm #20004205 either used or nos.. Thanks again.
The switch is attached to the bottom door latch and i will buy the door latch to get the switch if anyone has one. There is a plug in on the switch wire. It is impossible to get the switch off while the lock is installed on the tailgate. If anyone can come up with the lock including the switch please let me know. Thanks for the help. These locks and switches i understand went all through the 80s and early 90s chevys, buicks, olds.

Thanks a million. It is not easy to get to though. You have to unbolt the bottom latch lock assy to get at it and i am not sure it will come out past the door lock solenoid. Also disconnecting the linkage could be a problem but if those parts are not important then i guess they can be bent or whatever to get it out. The door lock solenoid is riveted on. Anyway i really appreciate it and if you can get it off i will be more than grateful.

I really appreciate it. The olds part number is 20004205. They call it the tailgate ajar switch. And it attaches to the lower hinge inside the tailgate. Thanks again. It appears that the wire plug comes in from the bottom and it is a small plunger switch. I am going to try and get it out tomorrow. Olds did not make it easy at all to get at it.

Phil, as I said in my email to you yesterday, I don't have any switches (or locks) for that matter to help you out... Also, I think I mentioned that the switch/lock assembly is only specific to the wagons, but does include all makes, Buick, Olds, Pontiac & Chevy... Since it does fit all the GM full size wagons through 1990, I would think your chances of finding one are reasonably good...
