Heat doesn’t work, need blower motor

Heat doesn’t work, need blower motor

hey all!

Just got my first Olds and seems like you’ll see me posting a lot within this electrical section! Haha
picked up a mostly original 1964 F85 Cutlass. Been tracing wiring issues the past week.

looking to move into heat at the moment, it doesn’t work, click, anything. I traced some wires and found a wire through the firewall just tucked away, not plugged into anything.

anyone have an idea what this goes to?

Welcome to the site. The blower motor is under the passenger fender. It may be unplugged for a reason.

Doh!

Just realized the blower motor is (or should be) tucked way up in that upper left on the firewall, behind the fender well.

Well mines missing!?! so I’m assuming that is where this would plug in.

Can anyone one confirm this?

also what’s the best place to snag a decent & affordable blower motor?

Thank you! Been in love with the 64s and 65 a body’s for years and finally got one.

haha yes I was noticing the blower motor right as you replied!

Seems like it’s gonna be a PITA to get a new one in there. Which is easier. Pull fender or can the heater box come out pretty smooth?

Thanks for the offer, but I've looked into a few other, brand new motors and they seem like they'll get the job done for now. Plus it's only $40 with wheel.

Appreciate the offer though!

You don't have to pull the whole fender, but I do think the best way is to put it on jackstands, remove the tire and inner fender liner. Then you can crawl in there and easily see/reach everything.

Then you have the rusty bolts on the core support. Have fun. I have used working motors $25 shipped.

Got my heat working. Thanks for the help guys!

blew out about a pound of corn on the floor at first, so I pulled the heater core cleaned it all up and it’s good to go!
