Posi-non slip rear end for a 1971 a Cutlass Convertible, with 3.73 gears

Ok, Time to get rid of this one wheel burn out!!! I have a 350 with limited mods. It's bored😝 .30 over with a high comp can. I want a limited slip rear end with either 3.43 gears or 3.73. I do drive on the high way every once in a while. I live in south eastern Michigan. Any suggestions.

Posi & gear

I prefer the Eaton to the Auburn.

You need more info to pick a gear that matches your driveline most important of which is what is your rear tire height?

Personally I would avoid the 3.73. 3.42s are plenty for a street driven car with a 27" tall tire. If you have 28" tall tire you might not mind the 3.73s but you will be spinning 3400 rpm @ 65 mph.

Have you considered a 3.23 gear? It is a great compromise.

the 225 70 14 is 26.4" tall. 3.23 or 3.42 gears are the way to go if you are sticking with that tire & a 3 speed automatic.

Use this calculator to predict the cruise RPM with your tire & gear selection.

Remember converter slippage will make the incurred RPM even higher than the calculated figure.
