I talked to him yesterday and he told me not to use the OEM unless they are worn out.

I accept that exactly as you say. I'll have to remember that though for any recommendations made to others.

I think Rob is a great guy and the hood he sent me is top quality workmanship from what I can tell.

It may be because he knows how Hot it gets in SC vs the North.

Having to change the springs is not a big deal to me. But it would be nice to know the correct spring to buy. After I try the OPGI springs when they get here I'll reply with my findings.

I would recommend the FC hood for the $$ and workmanship.

GINCSC, I received my hood I think early November. The problems were noticed right away. I had been working with Rob ever since to straighten it out. I only recently (a little over a month) took it to the body guy. He hasn't had time to work on the hood yet, but will in the next couple weeks. I'll post what he finds and how it turns out after. I'll also post some pics of the problems I had when I get on my PC. It's a PITA trying to add pics on an iPad.

Allan R, are you talking about stock springs or hinges? It will accept stock hinges of course, it's the springs that's an issue.

Yes, I was referring to the stock hinges and springs. That's what I understood originally when I first started discussion with Robb. Obviously there's been a misunderstanding on my part.

Here is the progress so far. My body guy said the hood needed a little sun time but is fitting well. Now she's it the paint booth and should be red by tonight.

The stripe layout on the sides isn't quite right. See these ones - that's how they should look

I don't have any pics of the underside of the hood, but believe me, its atrocious. Gobs of black glue all over.

Allan, I gave about 50 pics of stripes to my paint guy, and I think these were some of them. I also got a stencil kit from The Parts Place, so hopefully (they better) come out ok. I told him upfront that I was going to be **** about the stripes to make sure they come out correct.

I can't see all of yours from the pics, but I don't think they are. It doesn't look like the curve of the stripes going from horizontal to over the wheel is there. It looks like it's truncated in straight lines. Did you give him the striping pattern from the Assembly Manual? Section 1-4 Page 156?

If the car's already done and you're not picky about the stripes I wouldn't lose sleep over it. This is the first time stripes has come up on your thread, but - for example, if you look back at pics of Gary's W30 (bamboo with black stripes) you'll see what I mean.

WAIT!! Are you painting the car as a W30 or W29?? The W29 had 3 trim paint lines along the side and they WERE somewhat squared off like that. Please clarify??

The striping I'm seeing him do on the sides is not what the W30 should look like - close but no cigar. The transition to the wheel curves in particular. Do you have pics of the one he just did?

I had it saved to favorite online but he took it off his site when he moved.

He's done a great job on everything else and the price for his work is by far the best I have found for a quality job.

if it's not to my satisfaction I'm sure he'll fix it.

Carful with that. I assume your stripes are white. Once he paints the car your color it would be difficult to fix the stripes. They are underneath the base coat paint.
