7040253 carb

anyone have a 7040253 carb built in aug or sep (appropriate for a jan 1970 car)

would a date of 1779 be appropriate for a jan 1970 car?

Yes,that would work.The 253 carbs were made a little more random,so there are a variety of dates for those.
You "could" use the 1779 date,but it is too early to be close to what the original one was,for a car built January 14th,1970.

Does anyone know why yenko.net shows the 256 carb being correct? Could that be a canadian built difference?

256 is W-30 4 speed, 253 is 442 4 speed
