69 cutlass convertible frame off
#2
How nice are the inner boxed sections on the side rails. I have done a few chevelle convertibles with rusted out frames. I used nice hard top frames, cut the boxed sections out of the bad frames (repaired them if necessary) and welded them into the hard top frame. It can be a lot of work, but you can usually find a nice hard top frame much easier (and a lot cheaper) than a good convertible frame. If you go this route you may even be able to find a rusted out shell of a two door hard top on a usable frame and buy the whole car for less than someone wants for a bare frame. (I have done this too). It is all cost vs. labor. If you are willing to pay upwards of $2500 - $3000 for a nice convertible frame I am sure you will find one. If you look hard enough for a hard top frame, you might be able to find one in the $500 - $700 range. You may also be able to take your frame to a shop and have it straightened. How bad is the damage? Where on the frame is the damage?
