My 67 442 odometer works fine.

Speedo sticks and is not always accurate

Anyone have a speedo for sale ?

Also need heat/air dash control

Thanks

I doubt you have to replace the whole speedometer. How about just lubricating the cable?

$75 shipped within the lower 48. Pulled from a running 66 442 (really).
Odo shows 21244.0. More than likely rolled over once. PM me if interested, tru.

How well is "just fine?" It may move when the car moves, but have you checked it to see if it registers a mile when the car has actually traveled a mile? I would lubricate the cable first. If that doesn't work, I would replace the cable. If that doesn't work, then I would resort to replacing the speedometer. But I'm guessing lubricating the cable will work.

I had a '73 Custom Cruiser that did the same thing. The speed indicator needle would wave around a bit and make whirring noises when the car was moving and the weather was cold. After driving a few miles or when the weather was warmer, things would settle down. The odometer always worked, and I just assumed it was correctly adding a mile for every mile traveled, but I never actually checked it.

You can easily repair the speedometer yourself. Google "55-72 speedometer repair" and click on the one that has Ecklers Classic Chevy for detailed instructions how to disassemble and lube your speedometer. This applies to all GM speedos. If you send it off to be repaired, this is what the rebuilders will do.
Good Luck...
