7042250 Quadrajet Carb

I have a quadrajet that I bought a couple of years ago. I had it rebuilt by a local guy using a Cliffs High Performance rebuild kit. The guy did more harm than good, so I didn't install it on my 72. It is at least useful as a core to someone. I would like $50 plus shipping.

Wow, he got the secondaries to not open all the way when the primaries are fully open. Unless that's a parallax photo error. Odd ball non-Olds choke linkage? Both easily remedied.

Good price for a core parts carb in good shape, someone should ****** it.

Thanks Octania. I wish it had worked out for me as so many encouraged me to use a Q-jet. But at least it can live on in an Olds...

choke bracket and pulloff is from an early 70s BBC, and the secondary link is installed backwards....also from a Chevy.

not nitpicking, just FYI

Looks like a decent core from the pics.

Good luck with sale.

Thanks. Let me know if the price is fair based on the condition. I am also open to trades as I need a passenger side retractable seat belt (black) and parts for my disc brake conversion in the spring.

FWIW I'm running this # carb on a street driven 70 455 and it runs great. I rebuilt it, installed electric choke, and had to do a few minor adjustments to richen it up. I installed much smaller secondary rods and increased the tension on the secondary air door. It gave me great WOT and eliminated a low end bog.

I run the same number on my 72 350 with an original choke an new heat tubes, and as with allyolds, it also runs perfect.

What do you mean, "the local rebuilder did more harm than good"? I can see he didn't do a whole lot of cleaning and the previously mentioned secondary rod backward and the secondary lockout removed (I always remove mine, too). Is there anything else he screwed up?

I think the mentioned is the extent of the errors. There is a wrong size screw used in the fourth picture (shiny bolt head). I am not well versed in carburetors, so I am trying to provide as much information as I can. Thanks for the inquiry.
