Head Rests

Bryan, those head rests are the same that could be ordered in '68, are they not?

I'm pretty sure the notches are 90 or 180 degrees different from 68 to 69-72. I don't think the latches are the same. Fusick doesn't even list one for 68

edit:

ss396.com shows the notch in the front of the headrest for 66-68 and doesn't look like the conversion kit has latches.

I just looked at some GTO seats that I have and here's what I found (**not sure this applies to 442 seats, but it probably does):

The notches for 68 are unique. There are 3 notches on the front/bottom of each post that face forward. The notches are also more triangular than the later model seats. The 68 headrests do not have a release lever to raise and lower the headrests.

The 69's have one notch on the side of each post that faces inward.
The 70-72's have one notch on the side of each post that faces outward.
69-72's all have one notch on the front of each post that faces forward.
The 69 headrest release lever and the 70-72 headrest release lever are slightly different.

If you still have the blue 71-72 headrests available, can you post a picture? I might be interested if BackInTheGame passes. Thanks.

Wow!

Boy, did I miss all the updates to this thread after I asked the question! Mud on my face! I apologize if anyone was expecting an answer or PING from me. I just re-found the thread because... (wait for it)... I'm still looking for headrests! My interior is black, but it was dyed that color. It was originally blue. So, from that perspective, color of headrests probably won't matter. I'll either dye them or recover them. The trick is that I am adding them to my non-headrest '68 bucket seats.

Thanks for your understanding.
