As an aside (and to keep your thread ttt ), yes, in fact, we did throw out a lot of NOS parts, back in the '70s.

My father had bought out a shuttered F_rd dealer, and we had cases of stuff we were flogging at flea markets (like Carlisle) - mostly NOS Model A mechanical parts, and lots of NOS fifties trim parts, brand new in the boxes. They moved so slowly that we took to only letting people buy the part they wanted if they took one of these as well. Even that didn't get rid of what we had (in other words, we couldn't give it away), so after a few years we got tired of hauling it around and $h|+canned the lot of it.

It was all fifties crap anyway, and who was ever going to want to collect those crappy, ugly cars, right?
