And to think I had one of those intake's back in the mid 90's and sold it for $500! I thought I was hitting a home run selling it back then.

About 6 years ago I heard Bob Anderson sold one of these intakes for 15k to some Doctor down in Florida. And as recent as 2 years ago I heard of one selling for over 9k. Stupid money for an intake manifold!

$3500 for the heads, if you need them I guess its not that bad a price? Haven't stayed up on the pricing of those lately.

He's selling them while he can. With the 3D point scan pattern technology that's out there you're going to see the market flooded with cheap, cast, aftermarket parts in the next ten years. The biggest investment is going to be purchasing the first part to copy.

If you are doing a 1,000 pts resto & these are the last parts you need I guess, but in my opinion this is why matching #'s has jumped the shark.

$3500 for D heads is probably under the market. $8500 for the intake is high but not unreasonable. When was the last time you saw one for sale?

Well, in 1984, I BOUGHT the correct intake, carb, air cleaner, and mirrors for my 69 H/O from one guy for $600 for all. Since these were the only parts missing from mine, I've always wondered if they came from the car originally. I bought the car in Burbank and the parts from a guy in Orange Co., so it's possible.

This is just out of hand. I had a thread earlier about affording restoration, and it gets to a point that the only way you can have a numbers matching car is: 1. major luck with running into a deal 2. old money, lottery winnings, doctors, investment bankers..you get the picture. It's gotten to be a rich man's game. How will you ever have any normal cars at shows, etc. anymore with prices like these? I mean really, you're going to only have garage queens owned by millionaires. I'm all for originality and such with car shows, but when you see this it jsut makes you wonder if it's even worth it.

There will always be someone with more money than you have. This is unfortunately why I believe that Barrett Jackson and the like have poisoned the hobby. As these cars become more rare, this will only get worse. There are no more J manifolds being made, and as a result, the ones that remain are more valuable. This is supply and demand 101. Sorry, but it's a fact of life. Try buying beachfront property in a popular location - same problem.

Unfortunately what happens with these high dollar numbers matching points cars if you own one, is it ends up sitting in a garage somewhere not being used because your afraid its going to get damaged on the drive to the show. At least with me it is.

Thats why I ended up building another non #'s matching runner just to drive and enjoy.

I would rather give the money to charity than to a flipper Douche.
What a total waste of money even if you have it there is nothing special about these parts to demand so much $$$$$$$$
