1970 W30 Intake casting 406115, 1970-1972 4 spd intake also

1970 w30 intake, cleaned. This intake does not have the w455 casting on it. I dont know if this was a casting flaw or if someone took it off during a point in its life. I dont know what its worth with this descrepancy and that is why I havent posted a price. I have and will post pictures (585 in pictures is not the price, but rather the item slip from the machine shop where it was cleaned). This is an authentic intake. Will ship anywhere at owners expense. I am located in Colorado.

I also have a 70-72 4 speed w/o egr intake (407567 casting#) for sale, 300 plus shipping.

my name is Nick 720-275-3124

Very peculiar in that someone would go to all the trouble to remove the w455 off of the intake yet leave everything else. Strange stuff Indeed.

Not to say it's a fake or reproduction, not all at. However even if it was, it's still a decent price for the intake. An Edlebrock will run 250ish shipped so why not get an OEM for a tad more eh!

If it doesn't sell by Friday I'll take it off your hands for my numbers block.

300 is for the cast iron intake, I think the w30 intake is worth a little more. It's an authentic w30 intake.

I owned a 11-17-69 intake before, and it had the W455 on it.It also looks as though somone ground it off,and massaged the area, then blasted the whole intake.Still don't know why. They might have possibly painted the whole thing blue or another color,at one time, and installed it on something that they wanted to be sneaky with.

True, authentic, and correct for a 1970 w30, never-the-less, I dont know whether or not the w455 was ground off or if it was a casting flaw, but it is real and I would take it over a repop anyday. I also think its worth more than 300 bucks. Being an Olds guy, it's worth bragging rights just to have it hanging in the garage.Just thought I'd offer it in case someone has a w30 and needed it. I know that given the circumstances of the casting. it can alter the value, but not more than a couple hundred. I have seen these manifolds go for 1200-2000, so where does that put this one?

Right now,the perfect mint ones are lucky to reach $1200.00.The rest are hovering around $800.00-$1,000.00.
There's an NOS one,in the GM box,for $2500.00,but it's not moving.
Regardless,it is still worth more than a new repop.

Who makes the repops, and are they licensed to use Olds casting codes?

Except that is ISN'T correct with the "W-455" ground off. Sorry, but that's a significant hit to value.

I don't think there is a date code on the underside of the repro's. I'm sure there are other things (like maybe the detail on the Winter's casting mark) that can be easily spotted to tell the difference between real and repro

That NOS one has been on there for almost a year now. The last one that sold was in mint shape and it reached a tad over 1k. The 3 previous that sold reached 780, 804 and 828, respectively on Ebay upon looking at completed and sold auctions for the prior year. There have been several auctions that did not sell with BIN ranging from 900 to 2500. Guess the market on these is what the buyer is willing to pay.

Yes,the NOS one has been on there awhile.

The repops do not have the date code on the bottom, and have a machined surface in that area. That is not seen when installed, but the repops also have a little more material around the rear water port, compared to the originals, but is also not seen when everything is together.
Could you make an exact copy?Yes you could, but everything that is being reproduced, both good & bad,has something about it to tell it apart from an original.
