Yes I noticed that. Realize that came up on the Internet with limited information other than keywords that I punched in. I've never joined a forum before and not exactly sure how this all works. With that said I am interested in a 1957,1958 or 1959 J2 Golden Rocket engine to restore for a customer . That seemed like a fair price and from my limited access to this page that's all I had to go by.Thanks

I know that seems like a shot in the dark, but if anyone knows where I can find an engine like this I would certainly appreciate the heads up.

My friend has a complete J-2 engine in his garage. I'm not sure of the year, but I do know it's complete. It's located in Southeastern, Indiana. I can ask him if it's for sale and get back with you.

Ross Racing Engines in Ohio.
Tony is building a stock turn key engine for me now. Full reco of course. Will be as it came from factory.
His website shows his work and there is a 371 there with tri-carb set-up.
If you think it is too dear, I have to then get it shipped to Australia.

That would be why I mentioned for him to look at the 371 on the website.

And NOT the 394.

Nope- the '57-'58's have a lower deck height than '59.

Ebay has a manifold advertised as fitting 371 and 394. I thought I read somewhere both engines are different where the manifolds bolt on so will not fit both.

Offenhauser catalogue says there is a 'triple' high and low profile for 59-64.

The 1959 and 1960 371's were the same basic engine as the 59 - 64 394's, so the manifold's would interchange on those engines. The 57 and 58 371's are different.

Do you realize the original post was in 2011 and most of the additional posts were in 2014 and the engine had been long sold?

I'm just surprised that after 4 1/2 years, 65BO1's friend still hasn't made up his mind whether or not he wants to sell his engine.

If it was a car it would be sinking into the ground by now and he would still be saying "I am going to restore it one of these days".

You know how Oldsmobile Guys are, never want to sell, going to use it one day. The engine is in the corner of his heated garage, been there 20 plus years or more.
