350 Gold edition olds motor for sale

I've never heard anyone use the term "gold edition".
They are probably talking about the 68-76 blocks. Which were usually painted gold. The 77-80 blocks were usually painted blue. Regardless, they are all Rocket motors, no matter the color.
The big difference is the 68-76 blocks have solid main webs. Every thing after 77 and later (like your 307) have windowed main webs to save weight.
Good luck finding a 350 it should'nt be too hard.

I hate hate hate hate the term "Gold Rocket!" Did I mention that I hate "Gold Rocket!" No? Then let me say it again. I hate hate hate hate hate the term "Gold Rocket" 
I hate it as much as I hate the term "5 lug universial"
The engines were gold upto 1972 because they ran soft exhaust valve seats and required lead. In 1972 they started using GM Blue which was also the change over to unleaded gas becasue they started using hardened valve seats.
A "Gold Rocket" doesn't mean more power, higher compression, or an awesome motor. It's just a leaded gas engine

On a side note: I'm going to be painting my 1967 Olds 330 flat black for 2 reasons. First to look like a stock engine thus keeping up with the sleeper status I'm going for and second to stop people from walking up to my car and saying "Man, you gots a gold rocket in there" I don't know which reason is better

Our '74 Omega had a Gold 350. Pretty sure it was a factory installed motor too. Had very worn out gold paint and some very early emissions stuff (evap, TVS, heat riser). I've never seen a blue Olds in a '74 personally, but it wouldn't suprise me if some lines had different colors starting at different points in time.

My '73 was gold, my buddies '73 was gold, the owner of the local Yamaha dealership's '74 was gold. This wasn't last week, where they could have been repainted over the years, it was in the mid '70's. That is the color!

Wanna hear something funny? When my Dad bought the 72 I now own from Edmonton Motors it was a lease return with 40,000 miles on it. The engine/trans was the stock 350/350 but when the on site detailer did the car? He got a little stupid and painted the engine silver to match the car. Didn't look terrible, but didn't look really impressive either. Never wanted to check out whether any of the other cars had green, brown, red or whatever color engines done by the same guy. Anyway, it's a rocket 350 that I have returned to the proper gold color.

Yup, my 73 98's 455 was blue. it had hardened valve seats and no converter. was good for either regular or unleaded.
BTW werent the 425's red?

I have a metallic blue 1976 olds 350 in my garage 70,000 original miles out of a 1976 cutlass.The motor was original to the car.I compared it to corporate blue engines,and it is definately a different shade of blue.Hope this may help someone.
