70 Cutlass convertible & 72 Cutlass S

greetings !

I'm going to offer up any of my parts or parts cars for a decent 1970 OAI hood!

I also have a storage unit full of 70 - 72 fenders, hoods, glass (door glass and rear window for 70 - 72 Cutlass S), tons of chrome (wheel well and others), a rebuilt 350 motor (7a heads), a TCI 350TH transmission, 2 x 455 intake manifolds (1 is for auto and the other is for 4 speed car), D heads and more. There are also two pairs of bucket seats (both need recovering but are complete with nice headrests), 71 bench seat with fold down arm (nice), rear seats out of 70-72 hardtops and convertibles. many more boxes full of windlace, some very nice door panels and boxes full of many other parts !!

I would be willing to deal generously with someone who has a good 70 OAI hood to trade. Once I am able to source the parts I need to finish my Rallye restoration, I'll be looking to sell out ALL my inventory to whoever is interested !

thanks

conv interior rear quarter tins

I'm looking for rear interior quarter panels, all I need are the metal tins! I ordered rear unassembled panels, and my old panels are aftermarket (fiberglass) they are so brittle that I can't rivet the window fuzzy to them. HELP!!!! Mike Mpls,Mn.

What do you have in the way of 10 bolt posi carriers? My car is a 1972 Cutlass S. I'm looking for a Series 3 carrier with casting 410408 to go with 3:42 gears. Shipping shouldn't be too bad. Could use Greyhound to go across Canada. I'm in Alberta. You can PM me with info.

71-72 parts request

im trying to locate an ashtray door for my 71 convert. the dash is black, and also it has cruise control and the switch on the signal lever is broken. i've had a few guys give me some ideas on how to fix it until i can find something. my car also has a power drivers seat. the track was very rusted and even after an attempt to repair it its still stiff. if you have any of these parts or would be able to send me in a direction to some one who does it would be awesome. thanks jake g.

Just a quick update on some of the parts I still have available for sale.

- set of 455 E heads (cores)
- set of 1969 #5 350 Ramrod heads. Still in the box that they were received in 20 years ago (totally redone- ready to drop in). Been stored inside since day one.
- mint set of 72 Chevelle bucket seats (with rear bench) - MINT !!!
- set of 1970 350 exhaust manifolds
- 2 nice 69 Olds hoods
- a VERY MINT 1970 hood (soda blasted and ready to paint)
- nice 71 hood
- 2 1970 Olds driver side fenders (one from a 442 and the other from a Rallye 350)
- MINT 1970 front bumper of a Rallye 350
- assorted 71/72 front & rear bumper
- MINT 1970 Cutlass convertible trunk lid
- boxes of centre caps for SS rims (both clip on & bolt on - all are driver quality)
- front & rear window chrome for 70-72 Cutlass/442
- complete MINT A/C system (and I mean complete from dash controls to front evaporator, condenser, hoses, wiring..etc) from a 70/72 Cutlass

I am located in the Toronto area and I encourage all those in the southern Ontario, Buffalo, Niagara Falls & Fort Erie areas to come out and see what's there. Guaranteed you will find the best prices you've seen anywhere (or at any flea market !). I have been collecting for over 10 years and now it's time to clean house so I am looking to get rid of ALL my stuff !! Any reasonable offer will not be refused. I still have a large assortment of other parts that I'm still going thru to see what's there?!

Cheers

Going to the wrecker on Wed. I'll look for one. They should be the same from 70-77. Have you checked your local wreckers? I have 2 complete NOS Cruise units for my 72 Cutlass. (one's a spare) NO, i won't sell it. Getting them NOS is like winning a lottery. Lady72&Rob71 know what I'm talking about. I'll let you know what I find. Not sure, but I think the B Body cars from 70-77 also use the same cruise stalk. They just used a different dash switch for the On/Off.

Hey Jake,

I've been told my car has a 1971 turn signal w/ cruise stem. Evidently the 70 version has a chrome plastic ****, whereas, the 71 has a black plastic ****.

Mine is in excellent condition, but I'd only be willing to trade or sell if I can locate a similar quality 1970 stem (w/ cruise).

the one on my moms car is chrome stem with a black end where the push button is. the chrome is peeling off and the actually plactic handle is broken right where it goes into the metal signal lever. i've considered molding it all back together but know i cant replicate the chrome finish on the plastic. sounds like u have what i need i will keep my eye open and fingers crossed for you

I bought the PartsPlace steel/glass hood for now just so I could get my car finished. I'm currently looking for a capable bodyman in the gretaer Toronto area who can restore my original hood.

Let me know (PM me) what you want for your PP hood if/when you decide to replace.

I called Parts Place a couple of times during the last 2 years. They say that they're "working" on a glass/steel OAI hood for the 71/72 models. I know they have a the full glass hood with functional air box, but that's not what I'm after. Anyone heard anything from any of the aftermarket suppliers. As of now, Thorntons has the monopoly on the steel/glass hood in very limited production.

Thanks boondocker,

The PP glass/metal hood is for a 70 Cutlass (729.00) and won't fit my 72. I've heard that the fitment on this hood has some issues that a bodyman would need to spend around 30+ hours on to get a perfect fit.

The "ram air" hood that PP advertises for 71/72 is completely made of fibreglas and is priced accordingly (589.00). It doesn't have a steel liner and that's important for me because I want to install a T44 hood lock to make sure the hood doesn't accidentally walk away. Only a hood with a steel liner will do the trick. In the meantime, I'll keep using the one I have with the fake louvers.

Thanks for your suggestion, I appreciate the thought behind it. As you know PP needs to update their promo words. The hood I'm looking for is a w-25 OAI (outside air induction). A lot of people mistakenly call it a ram air hood.

PP W25 Steel/Glass Hood

Wow! You're 100% right! I used your search and there it was. But it's priceless. I sent them an email to find out how much. I'm hoping that it will be a lot less than Thornton's since they would be able to mass produce them. I'll let you know what they get back to me with.

The issue with fitment I got from 70Post (Patton Glade). He specializes in restorations. I hope the new hood doesn't fall into the same category or I'll have to start working a night job too!

Thanks again for your help, and keen eye.

I bought a PP 70 ram air hood (steel frame/fiberglass top) last summer for $819 + s&h. My body guy had no issues making it fit on my Rallye.

Ok, I did some checking into this. Sent PP an email enquiring about price and availability. Here is their reply:

Unfortunately we still have no date on when those will be available. I wish
I could tell you something but I have not heard anything for quite some time
on those. I assume they will be close to the same price at the 1970 hoods
for $729 but I am not positive. We are not taking preorders on them yet.
Sorry
Thanks

The Parts Place
630-365-1800
Well, that doesn't solve much for now. But if they ever get their hood into production, 729.00 is a price I'd be more than willing to pay. Maybe it would be a good idea to have 71/72 owners send in email requests for this hood to help boost popularity and production run.

This post would be best suited in the Parts wanted forum. You'd get better coverage and results.....
